The Changing Workplaces Review and the Fair Workplaces, Better Jobs Act, 2017

What changes are coming to Ontario’s labour and employment laws?  If passed, Bill 148 – the Fair Workplaces and Better Jobs Act, 2017 – will extensively amend the Labour Relations Act, 1995 and the Employment Standards Act, 2000.  Bill 148 was introduced on June 1, 2017, has gone through one round of committee hearings and was itself extensively amended in that process.

In this summary and analysis, Dan Sheppard compares the provisions of Bill 148 with the recommendations made in the final report of the Changing Workplaces Review.
