Willow Petersen is committed to protecting and advancing workers’ rights.
In her labour practice, Willow represents unions at grievance arbitration, the Ontario Labour Relations Board, and other administrative tribunals. As a member of the firm’s pay equity team, Willow helps unions and their members navigate the complex field of pay equity law and fight against gender-based pay discrimination.
Having previously worked in-house at a union representing members in their grievances against management, Willow understands client interests and works hard to advance them at all stages of litigation. She approaches every legal problem with a practical perspective. Whether negotiating settlements or providing educational seminars to clients, she can help make sense of complex legal issues.
Willow’s commitment to workers’ rights and social justice led her to work at Advocates for Injured Workers and Downtown Legal Services while studying law at the University of Toronto. She helped injured workers seeking workers’ compensation benefits, appeared before the Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal, and also advocated for tenant rights before the Landlord and Tenant Board.
Willow summered in the firm’s Ottawa office and articled in the Toronto office before being called to the Bar of Ontario in 2018. She is a member of the Canadian Association of Labour Lawyers and the Ontario Bar Association.
