Building For Better – Town Hall on the Future of Work
Josh Mandryk participates in a town hall on the future of work
The federal New Democratic Party held a Facebook town hall on Tuesday on the future of work. Participants discussed how to build an economy that treats workers more fairly, gives them a bigger voice at work, and keeps them safe.
GP’s Josh Mandryk was one of the town hall participants. He explained why building a better future for workers must includes preventing employers from misclassifying workers as independent contractors rather than employees. He also argued that the government must use public procurement in a manner consistent with the public good.
Other participants in the town hall were Jagmeet Singh, Leader of Canada’s NDP; Emily Norgang, Senior Researcher (Canadian Labour Congress); Jan Simpson, President (CUPW); and Jim Stanford, Director, Centre for Future Work.
