Another partner and friend has also retired from the firm.

Photo of / Photo de Steven ShrybmanSteven Shrybman articled at Sack Charney Goldblatt Mitchell over 40 years ago and, during his articling term, helped organize the articling students, something unheard of at that time. After his call to the bar, he carved out a public interest law practice, focusing on, among many other things, environmental and international trade law.

Steven returned to Goldblatt Partners (then Sack Goldblatt Mitchell) in early 2001, becoming the first lawyer to staff our new Ottawa office.

Over the next 30+ years, Steven developed a public interest law practice that involved a diversity of both national and international public law issues concerning the environment, international trade, human rights, cultural diversity, intellectual property, and health care and other public services. His clients included trade unions, citizen coalitions, farm organizations, governments and international civil society organizations.

Steven was at the forefront of a number of important public policy and legal battles to defend and promote the public interest in the face of corporate globalization and neo-liberal policies of privatization, de-regulation and free trade. He also famously fought voter suppression efforts in the 2011 federal election.

We wish Steven every happiness in retirement and look forward to connecting with him when we visit or pass through Lanark County!
