R v. Kokopenace: A missed opportunity, National, June 2015
In this case comment, published by the Canadian Bar Association’s National Magazine, Cassandra Porter and Natai Shelsen review the Supreme Court of Canada’s decision in R v. Kokopenace, a case dealing with the under-representation of Aboriginal people on jury rolls. They maintain that the Supreme Court missed an important opportunity to address the well-documented alienation of Aboriginal people from the criminal justice system and the systemic discrimination facing Aboriginal people in Canada more generally.
