Consumer Protection

Canada has a variety of laws that protect consumers in their interactions with businesses. These laws, among other things, aim to ensure that consumers receive fair and accurate information when making purchasing decisions, receive goods and services that are safe and of a reasonable quality, and that their personal information is treated in accordance with applicable privacy laws and standards.

Goldblatt Partners provides advice and representation to individuals seeking to enforce their rights as consumers. We also advocate on behalf of organizations that seek to advance laws to ensure a fairer marketplace for Canadian consumers.

Our work has included the representation of consumers alleging various breaches of contract and the Consumer Protection Act, including against Groupon, Bell Mobility, and Peoples Trust Co. We have also acted for consumers in relation to product liability issues.

We also defend individuals’ privacy interests against corporations that may mishandle or misappropriate their personal information.
