Biography
As one of GP’s research lawyers, Char Wiseman’s focus is written advocacy. They can take the most complicated facts and legal arguments and wrestle them into persuasive submissions that help our clients win cases.
Char’s talents are often put to use in judicial review and constitutional factums. They have been involved in an impressive streak of victories which include Ramkey Communications Inc. v. Labourers International Union of North America, which confirmed that construction labour relations fall within provincial jurisdiction, and OPSEU v. Government of Ontario, the successful Charter challenge to Bill 115 (the so-called “Putting Students First Act”).
As the firm’s point person for workers in the health care sector, Char provides regular advice on collective agreement interpretation, grievances and the impact of new laws and policies.
Char’s natural hair colour is plum and teal. Occasionally, they die their roots grey. They are often overheard yelling at the internet, bragging about their dog, or pontificating about craft beer.
