Peter Engelmann talks about bias

Peter Engelmann will participate in a panel discussion on the “Exploration of Bias: Dilemmas and Solutions” at the Canadian Institute’s 14th Annual Advanced Administrative Law and Practice.

This panel will examine institutional bias, including terms of appointment; offer solutions for how to assess perceptions of bias; provide guidelines for appropriate tactics and procedural rules; discuss how to determine whether a decision maker is biased; give tips on how to resolve conflict-of-interest dilemmas; outline the rules of evidence and evidentiary issues; explore what sufficient proof looks like for factual dispute; provide guidance on how to ensure you have the grounds and reasons for bringing an application and review relevant case law updates, including Mohammed v. Canada.
