So long, Willow
Today we say “farewell”, but not goodbye, to Willow Petersen. Willow is leaving the firm – and the busy streets of Toronto – to work in a legal clinic in her home town.
Willow summered in our Ottawa office, and then articled in the Toronto office. After cutting her teeth with a public sector union following her call to the bar, she returned to the firm where she has since worked in almost every part of our labour practice. Most recently, she has been instrumental in in the growth of our pay equity practice.
Although mild-mannered and easy-going, Willow turns into an unstoppable force when confronted with injustice. As one GP lawyer put it, Willow’s superpower is her ability to transition readily and seamlessly from empathetic and equanimous counsel(or) to passionate and powerful champion – and back again.
We will miss Willow’s steadiness, intelligence, and empathy, but we know that our loss is an entire community’s gain; she will be a tremendous advocate for her legal clinic’s clients.
Good luck, Willow, we wish you all the best.
