Human Rights Day
Things that excited us on this Human Rights Day.
On December 10, 1948, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. To commemorate this event, every December 10th is Human Rights Day. Goldblatt Partners has long celebrated Human Rights Day by participating in Amnesty International’s Write for Rights.
Amnesty International provides background information on a variety of cases from around the 
world
(e.g. imprisoned or persecuted journalists, labour and human rights activists; the “disappeared”; victims of war or repressive government policies). Our lawyers and staff write letters of concern to the responsible government, or a card to a prisoner or victim of oppression, or to that person’s family or support group.
We are particularly excited this year because the first group of Syrian refugees (approved under the new federal government’s promise to resettle 25,000 persons displaced by the war in Syria) will arrive in Toronto tonight AND because we filed our application with Lifeline Syria today! As you may know, we will be sponsoring a refugee family – hopefully very soon – and encourage other firms and organizations to do the same.
