Here’s our summary of Bill 124
On the eve of its 5-month summer break, the Ford Government introduces wage restraint legislation
On June 5, 2019, the Ford Government introduced Bill 124 – the Protecting a Sustainable Public Sector for Future Generations Act, 2019.
If passed, the Bill would impose a series of 3-year “moderation periods” – in the form of salary and compensation caps – on a variety of public sector unionized and non-unionized workplaces.
What does this mean? Who does Bill 124 apply to? What are the moderation periods? What are the caps? Are there any exceptions? Does the Bill apply to compensation increases already negotiated in collective agreements?
We answer these and other questions in our summary and analysis of Bill 124.
