You may know that health and safety legislation allows workers to refuse to perform unsafe work. But that does not mean that an employee can simply walk off the job and go home. Anyone who does that risks being disciplined or even fired.

There are particular rules you must follow if you want to refuse to perform work that you believe is not safe. Kirsten Mercer has outlined those rules for Ontario and federal employees in this blog post.
