Cynthia Petersen urges reinstatement of Court Challenges Program
Cynthia Petersen appeared before the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights on April 14, 2016 to address the government’s proposed reinstatement of the Court Challenges Program.
She describes her experience as a lawyer whose clients relied on the Court Challenges Program in the 1990s and early 2000s in seeking basic equality rights. As Cynthia describes, without the Court Challenges Program, LGBT rights and equality rights movement for LGBT people would never have evolved in the manner in which it did.
