Dennis et al. v. Canada

February 25, 2012

Canadian Wheat Board Class Action

What the class action is about:

Steven Shrybman and Winnipeg lawyer Anders Bruun are counsel in a proposed class action commenced in Federal Court on February 15, 2012, seeking to restore the Canadian Wheat Board and recover damages that farmers have suffered as a result of the Federal Government’s actions to dismantle the Board.

The class action is brought on behalf of all grain producers, or their estates, who sold grain through the Canadian Wheat Board on or after January 1, 2006, and who were entitled to be included in the voters list in respect of the election of Directors of the Canadian Wheat Board at any time since that date.

The lawsuit alleges that the Federal Government has broken the law by passing legislation that will dismantle the Canadian Wheat Board and by denying farmers their statutory and constitutionally-protected rights.
